June event the "Blue and Gray Civil War Tea "

The Blue and Gray Civil War Tea was held last Saturday, June 27th at the Milton House north of Mantorville. About 120 guests were served a three course elegant tea. Thank you to all the Volunteers who worked so hard to make this event a success. All profit from the tea will be used to further the educational and historical events of Friends of Wasioja. Upcoming Events

"Old Fashioned 4th of July in Mantorville"

Mantorville's 4th of July Celebration is ready to go. Over 100 red, white and blue banners decorate this historical communiity. The event is sponsored by Friends of Wasioja.

Commemorative Root Beer Mugs will be available and Mike Eckers (Dodge Center Postmaster), will premier his new book “Northern Colors”, a historical fiction book for young adults (or anyone that’s not aware of the Civil War).

Take part in the
Pie Contest - Enter your favorite fruit pie. Adult and youth divisions. Rumor has it that Sen. David Senjem and Rep. Randy Demmer will be the judges. Winning pies will be auctioned off.
Picnic Contest - Set up your Fantasy 4th of July Picnic. No food, just the picnic display. Become a Martha Stewart.
Hat Event - Wear your most beautiful hat to the Mansion Lawn.
Food - Burgers for lunch and Smoked Pork Chop Dinner beginning at 5 p.m.

Friends of Wasioja has partnered with the Rochester Area Foundation and NetWork for Good to accept donations through www.civilwarmn.com. You may ask that your donation - will be used to replace the Officers Circle of Trees at the Seminary, support President Lincoln's appearance at the event in 2011, honor a ancestor who was in the Civil War, etc.. Your donation is important to us.
